writing-for-history-class

Pick one of the United States presidents who served during the scope of this course, any president from Andrew Johnson to Gerald Ford, and write a three-page paper on some aspect of that president. You are not required to discuss what the person did as president; if you are interested in the fact that Andrew Johnson is the only president to return to Congress after being president, write about that. You are, however, required to discuss some aspect of your president not covered in the textbook. When you have chosen your president, read what your textbook says first and then find something else to write about him.

Approach this assignment so that a person who has no knowledge of the information will understand it; you are teaching the reader about your president.

Your paper must be typed using Times New Roman 12-point font, double-spaced, and a minimum of three (3) full pages with a one-inch margin. Length of paper requirements refer to the amount of text and do not include title pages, works cited pages or additional spacing. Internet websites should be used sparingly and only websites of a legitimate nature. You must use at least three (3) sources and your textbook, Wikipedia and President videos viewed for class may not be used as a source. You must also include a Works Cited page with your paper showing what sources you used. You may use either APA or MLA style; points will be deducted for inadequate reference information.

The paper should be written using your own words; copying and/or pasting from a source in any way is inappropriate and is plagiarism. The paper should be error free; points will be deducted for errors in grammar, spelling, etc. Papers must be submitted in Word or RTF in Canvas by the due date; papers submitted incorrectly will not be graded and will receive a zero.
