Use the attached document about women in the Song Dynasty and the information in the assigned chapter of the textbook to address the following questions:

• How does this document illustrate some of the characteristics of the Song Dynasty?
• While the document largely suggests a rather limited role for women, what do they do that is valued?
• What does this document illustrate about the role of men? Does it suggest that they have any limitations?

While the document clearly says a lot about how women should function in society, be sure to consider it in the context of changes created by the Song. Where do we see those changes reflected in the primary source? and the concerns that are at the forefront of the reading. How have these shifted from earlier Chinese texts?
