Mock Pseudo-Study Application
Complete this template to document the required areas for your mock pseudo-study.
- Research Question: Write your research question in the field below.
- Hypotheses: Formulate null and research hypotheses to adequately investigate your research question. If your study will investigate multiple hypotheses, add additional rows as needed.
- Variables: Identify the relevant variables and the associated levels of measurement for your study. If your study will include multiple independent/dependent variables, add additional rows as needed.
- Population and Sample: Write your population and sample in the field below.
- Sample Size: Report the appropriate sample size for your study and detail how it was calculated in the field below.
- Descriptive Statistics: Complete the following in the tables below:
- Identify a minimum of 2 descriptive statistics that will be used to organize and describe the mock data “collected” from your sample population. Justify the appropriateness of each procedure. For example, consider the question: How will the statistical procedure support your research question?
- Generate mock data for your sample.
- Run each descriptive procedure in Microsoft Excel and paste the Excel output for each descriptive statistic.
- Include a graphic representation for each procedure.
- Prepare a summary that describes the results of each descriptive procedure.

- Inferential Statistics: Complete the following in the table below:
- Identify an inferential test for your pseudo mock-study using the Which Stats Test tool located on the SAGE Research Methods page under the Research Tools tab. Report the suggested test and provide a brief justification to support the appropriateness of the suggested test. For example, consider the question: How will the test support your research question? Investigate the procedures associated with your suggested test using SAGE Research Methods.
- Run your suggested test in Microsoft Excel and paste the Excel output from your test in the area provided below.
- Provide a brief analysis of the output.
- Reflect on your findings.
