A few sample essays

Sample of biographical and historical criticism:

A (short!) mixture of biographical and historical criticism that sheds light on an author without drawing a one-to-one comparison between him and his text.

_____

This article is a mixture of biographical and textual criticism that attempts to solve a publication mystery. Its approach would be very different than anything anyone would try to do with Plath, for instance, but it is useful in that it shows how not to just draw a one-to-one comparison between an author and his/her text.

_____

Sample of psychological criticism:

This essay may be helpful for anyone looking to do psychological criticism for Jane Eyre, which I reference several times in this paper. The essay is concerned with *how* and *why* a traumatized Brontë heroine tells her narrative in a certain way.
