The Evolution of Nursing Future Perspectives

Purpose:

Nurses work together in many environments. Understanding the roles and responsibilities of each type of graduate nurse will foster cooperative relationships.

Directions:

1. Select and describe a specialty that has evolved in a different direction from that of advanced practice nursing (e.g., informatics, administration, and health policy; encourage students to identify others as well).
2. What key differences do you see in this evolution as compared with developed APN specialties?
3. Describe the future vision and goals each role and relate to emerging healthcare trends and needs.

Selected a specialty area and compared/contrasted to other APN specialties.  Described the future and goals of several AP roles and fully described how the roles are related to specific emerging healthcare trends and needs.  Paper was 5-7 pages, not including references page.
