Please create your “autobiography.”

This is a Special Assignment (ungraded) that I’d like you to complete so I can evaluate your present writing skills and you can use my feedback for future graded work. Please post it here by 11:59 p.m. on Sun., 1/13/19, so I can give you my feedback before Week #2 opens next Weds. One or two double-spaced pages would be fine. The format should be a Word document; don’t just use the Comments box unless instructed to do so, please. Work is difficult to edit in that format.

Refer to Tips & Resources (left menu) for common mistakes students make so you don’t! Also, ALWAYS reread your work before submitting it to make sure everything is correct—if you don’t know how to spell something, especially names, look it up!

Here’s a how-to: http://www.wikihow.com/Write-an-Autobiography

Please create your “autobiography.” It is written in first person (or you could use third person, if you wish);  read more about the differences between autobiographies and biographies here:

https://prezi.com/kbq2qewccsen/autobiography-and-biography-comparison/

This should be something that could be placed on a book jacket or used to introduce you to an audience (the person doing that would, of course, use third person; i.e., “An accomplished. award-winning actress, Noelle has followed her dream to help others find their true passions by…”) You can embellish your background to include things on your own bucket list–having climbed that mountain, won the Nobel Prize, sailed the Seven Seas, gotten an advanced degree, invented something, written a movie, traveled the world, whatever…your choice!! Just make it sound true!!

This is a practice exercise so I can get a look at your writing style.

Some examples are:

Christiane Heggan – one of my good friends, now retired, who wrote 17 page-turning mystery novels that won many awards. I relished reading every one and miss her witty style that left me wanting more to enjoy. Here’s her biography:  https://www.writerswrite.com/journal/mar01/a-conversation-with-christiane-heggan-3012
