How does the large intestine differ from the small intestine in length?

The large intestine measures 1.5 m or 5 feet long in an adult.

In an adult, the small intestine measures about 7m or about 23 feet long.

The inner surface of the wall of small intestine contains circular folds that bear numerous fingerlike projections, the villi, which greatly increase the absorbing surface of the small intestine.
