tell-story

Think back to a change that you have experienced in either your personal or professional life.

Write down your experience of change in about one page, and then answer these questions

What made this experience a “story?’

Part of the attraction of a story is that it will usually have a main character or groups of characters to whom the reader/listener can relate. A story usually has tension and an emotional perspective, as well as factual information. In the text, the change stories include both subjective and factual details. The stories have just enough information to set the scene and explain the importance of the situation. Each story tells of an incident or situation, along with the consequence(s) or choice(s) that the character/company has to resolve or face.

What lessons for managing change can you take from your story?

Refer to and think through the different aspects involved in change.

EXAMPLE LEARNING ENGAGEMENT POST LOOKS LIKE THIS WITH APA CITATIONS:

According to Taylor, Fisher, and Dufresne (2002) there are multiple aspects of the aesthetic in a story that can determine it’s likeable; how good or bad the story is. I attempted to use humor in that I used to get hurt more as an athlete and I changed to be more careful.

Change can be an individual experience (Cameron & Green, 2004).

Cameron and Green (2004) described individual change and my change story was about my personal health experience. I used to ….

Now I …

I aspire to learn more organizational change management strategies and compare them to experiences and use the knowledge in future experience (Palmer, Dunford, & Buchanan, 2016).

THIS MY STORY^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

There is an old say, “To get new changes, you need to go and discover new lands.”

In 2018, after several years of finishing the bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Jordan. I decided to start a new stage in a new place, so I have stood all my projects in Jordan and moved to the UAE. Even though this step carries a hand of risk, I chose to start from scratch.

I traveled to my elder brother in UAE in winter 2018 to escape the winter in Jordan. He is the owner of one of the most popular restaurants groups in Dubai. Although this trip did not give me serious results on the ground, that three months in Dubai was enough for me to think deeply and choose to go to the USA immediately after to put the first block to my desired future.

I have spent one year in the United States looking for a place with a diversity of opportunities started from Ocean City to Baltimore on the east coast. Then I found that I am a man who can not cope in cold weather, so I moved to San Diego pacific rim looking for the warm weather that increases my productivity and efficiency to work hard. Furthermore, I really enjoy the sea view and spending time in a place with a lot of beautiful nature surrounding with fresh air, quality, and a variety of healthy food everywhere. All these features, in addition to the opportunities and my desire to complete my post-graduate studies were the reasons to choose the change of my place to California.

On the other hand, sometimes the changes come as challenges and that why rarely people leave their comfort zone, so always keep in your mind that in order to get the best of what you can do in your life. You need to force the challenges, and you need to have the ability to change even if these changes can affect your normal life.

At the end, I believe that what I did to change my place, people, and future have given me the motivation to come here and write the story knowing that you will not learn unless you make mistakes and change your approach. I learned to drop and stand by myself without anyone’s help and that was my start to change…,
