The state and federal officials were motivated by the desire to seize the natives’ land during the rampant growth of cotton agriculture when participating in the removal of the Cherokees (Riley & Carpenter, 2016). The White Americans pushed the Natives to the west thus causing conflict between the Indian tribes. The crash between the Native Americans was beneficial for the white settlers since they were able to seize the land easily.
