For human beings, seeing the light on pure surface level means observing “the portion of the spectrum that can be perceived by the human eye.” (Wikipedia) While in this all-knowing and vast universe, some things are not defined only by what they are but by what they do and where they come from.

In the Letter from Birmingham Jail, light to Martin Luther King Jr. is the gospel of freedom.

• To understand this letter, knowing the reason and who King is writing to become important. This letter is the response to the criticisms that been published by eight clergymen from Alabama. King illustrates Apostle Paul as an example for clergymen and all God’s messenger. He first explained why he was in Birmingham, “because injustice”, and then compared his behavior with Paul’s departure from his hometown to spread out the gospel of Jesus.
