You are a legal assistant for John Amery, sole practitioner in the area of business organizations. Mr. Amery left on vacation this morning at 9:00 a.m. on his way to Hawaii. At 10:00 a.m. a business client calls frantically and needs an immediate answer about a transaction that will close at 11:30 a.m.

You have access to the client’s records and are capable of providing the information. You will not be able to reach your supervising attorney for several hours. However, this information is necessary to close a big deal. Failure to provide this information will anger the client and possibly your boss. Do you provide the client with the information? If yes, how would you base your decision? If no, provide reasoning for your answer.
