Explain and Discuss your Graphs: -What particular elements of the graph do you want the reader to notice?

a.Select Two Variables:From one of the Discussion Board Data Sets in Doc Sharing, select one discrete variable and one continuous variable.Be sure to indicate the name of the dataset you are using and the names of the variables. Note which is discrete and which is continuous and how you can tell.

b. Create Two Graphs:Using the two variables you have selected, create an appropriate graph for each to show or describe each variable. You will create two separate graphs. Paste or attach both fully labeled graphs here. For each of your graphs be sure to include all titles, labels, and information needed to correctly interpret your graphs. For example, if appropriate, include a label along the vertical y-axis and a label along the horizontal x-axis.

c. Explain and Discuss your Graphs:For each graph, explain why the particular graph you selected is appropriate for the data described by the graph. What particular elements of the graph do you want the reader to notice? What is the overall impression that you expect the reader to have from looking at the graph?

Help and Explanations:

The Discussion Board SPSS Data Sets file in Doc Sharing is a “zip file”, which will open when you download it. You must have SPSS installed BEFORE you can open any of the data sets within the Discussion Board SPSS Data Sets folder. The data sets all have a.savextension and only SPSS can open this type file. Do not attempt to open any data set until you have successfully installed SPSS. If you have any trouble opening the zip file, contact Tech Support right away.

How to Paste a graph from SPSS into Word

d. Pulling it all together:Data are part of our lives. When we make decisions, do research, plan a healthy diet for our families, determine the best course for a medical choice, or even choose which product to purchase, we use “information” that came in the form of data.Think of one question or idea that you might want the answer to, such as which food is highest in Vitamin D or which facial soap alleviates dry skin. Write down your question here. Then, collect (or invent) a small sample of data to answer your question. Enter your data into SPSS, and create a graph to describe your data. Include the graph here along with an explanation and any conclusions based on your data.

Help and Explanations

The mineral silica has been shown to help in the prevention of osteoporosis and arteriosclerosis. In an effort to ingest more silica, I have collected a sample of food items to compare their silica content.

Here is my small data set of foods given per 100g quantities:

Bananas: 5.4mg

Raisins: 8.3mg

Carrot: 2.3mg

Brown rice: 2.1mg

Cornflakes: 2.4mg

After I have entered these data in to SPSS (see above) and create a labeled graph, I have:

From this graph it is easy to see that Raisins give us the highest percent of silica per 100 grams of food.

e.
Submit:Paste your completed Word Document to this area. If your SPSS item(s) do not paste properly, also attach your full Word document to your post, and note in your post that the SPSS items are attached.
