Read Paul Fussell’s essay about the interpretation of the second amendment to the U.S. Constitution, pages 192-197 in America Now as a primer to this prompt.
Interpreting the intent of the framers of the Constitution is at the heart of the gun control debate. The Second Amendment states: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.“ Gun rights advocates argue this clearly guarantees the universal right to bear arms. Gun control advocates, however, say it is a conditional right that should be strictly regulated in the interest of public safety.
Write an ARGUMENT essay in which you respond to one of the following:
THE SECOND AMENDMENT SHOULD BE
ABOLISHED, MODIFIED OR LEFT ALONE.
Explain your position on what the interpretation of the second amendment should be in an argumentative essay that utilizes LOGOS, ETHOS and PATHOS, and research from the CSUN Library academic search engines AND/OR actual books, journals or other academic sources
Your essay will:
