This assignment uses a grading rubric that can be viewed at the assignment’s drop box. Instructors will be using the rubric to grade the assignment; therefore, students should review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the assignment criteria and expectations for successful completion of the assignment.

 

Constructing research reports are a major part of the research process. This assignment will assist you in learning to develop a hypothesis and conduct a literature review directly related to the research hypothesis and present it in order to learn the concept of writing a research report.

 

Be sure to read chapters 15 & 16 of the textbook before beginning the assignment.

 

 

1)      Using the selected topic in Module 1, write a Research Report (1,000–1,500 words) on the selected topic. Include the following in your paper:

 

 

a)      Introductory section:Include hypothesis and a review of the literature:

i)        Develop a hypothesis on the topic you selected in Module 1.

 

ii)      Submit your hypothesis to the instructor by the end of Day Three in Module 4. You will use the feedback you receive from the instructor to revise your hypothesis if necessary.

 

iii)    Conduct a thorough literature review directly related to the research hypothesis you developed.

 

 

2)      Now that you have conducted your literature review on the hypothesis, select and analyze one study (from your search results) that was implemented and provides thorough results for your analysis.

 

3)      Include the following sections in your report:

 

a)      Methodology section:Include subsections:

 

i)        Participants- How many participants were involved in the study? What were the relevant characteristics (age, gender, race, etc.)? How were they recruited? Provide additional information to for clarity.

 

ii)      Apparatus/ Materials/ Instruments- What materials or instruments were used in the experiment?

 

iii)    Procedure- Provide a clear description of all procedures followed in the study. Were there groups? Was there manipulation to control variables? Provide the steps of the study in chronological order for the reader.

iv)    Design- Briefly explain the design of the experiment.

b)      Results section:This portion of the report should relay a summary of the findings in thestudy using words. Include statistic, critical values, degrees of freedom, and alpha level. Use figures or tables to help explain the findings.

c)      Discussion section: This section should tie everything together for the reader. Explainwhat the study found and if your hypothesis was supported or not. Include interpretation of results, ethical concerns, limitations of study, and suggestions for future research.

d)     Appendices section:Include a minimum of two appendices (either two figures, twotables, or a figure and a table).
