Modeling Dynamic Leadership

A quick review of the secular dialogue regarding dynamic leadership tends to lack a strong theoretical framework. It’s up to us, as leaders and scholars, to develop our own model of dynamic leadership grounded in theory. In Week 1, you compiled your leadership theory inventory and applied key tenants to a leader you are familiar with. In Week 2, you reflected on your own personal leadership style. Now, let’s take the next step to move from a more static view of leadership to a style that is more reflective of our constantly changing environment.

  • Reflect on your current (or a previous) organization and the internal and external forces that currently (or previously) affected the organization.
  • Draft a brief of a traditional leadership approach and a more dynamic leadership style that could be more effective in handling these forces.
  • Be sure your model of dynamic leadership, like your traditional approach, is grounded in theory.

As a scholar, you have the ability to discern for yourself whether or not a particular assertion is valid. If you believe there are one or more traditional leadership approaches that speak to the transient nature of organizations, your analysis should reflect this. Make the case using rigorous support (current peer-reviewed research) and empirical evidence (e.g. experience/observation).

Support your comparative analysis with minimum of 5 scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.
